Man, the Red Sox are throwing money around. Not only did they announce that huge deal for J.D. Drew, they’re now locking up shortstop Julio Lugo to a four year, $36 million deal. Man that’s a lot of money for a middle of the road short stop but so goes 2006. Everyone’s worth more money these days.
Lugo is a career .277/.340/.402 hitter. He’s an average fielder but in that respect, he’s coming off of his best season in 2005 with an average one.
Again, Lugo is a mediocre talent and the price tag seems very high The price of business has gone up though so who knows.
