Red Sox Face Up Hill Battle After Getting Swept by Yankees

by @ 1:22 pm. Filed under 2006 Season

Oh boy. One of my regular tasks is to do a review of each series the Red Sox play, but this one is just to tough to run down.  Today’s game especially.  David Wells pitches out of his mind and the winning run ends up being scored on a wild pitch.  In the other four games, the pitchers gave up no less then eight runs in any single game, and three of the five ended with the Yankees in double digits.  The end result of all of this is a 6 1/2 game deficit in the AL East.  We’re now closer to the Blue Jays behind us then we are from the Yankees.

And our Wild Card chances are diminishing as well.  Our best chance is for the Red Sox to head out west and take care of business against a tough Angels team while the Tigers beat up on the White Sox.  With the loss today, the Red Sox are 4 1/2 back of the White Sox with the Twins also ahead of us for the Wild Card.

What’s worse is, the Red Sox are a .500 team on the road.  Fenway Park was supposed to be our ballpark.  And that makes this five game sweep even tougher to take.  Heading out west isn’t going to be easy.

Time to move on, and it’s time for the Red Sox to start winning some ball games.

See if another title will be won by purchasing Green Bay Packers Tickets for the season. One of the model franchises is in Foxboro as New England Patriots Tickets are tough to get. The NFC East is pretty competitive so get New York Giants Tickets to see the rivalries. With a new identity New York Jets Tickets are great for the new stadium.
