Red Sox Close to Signing J.D. Drew

by @ 7:36 pm. Filed under 2007 Season

I picked this up at Baseball Musings, but the Red Sox are apparantly close to signing J.D. Drew.  This would be huge because J.D. Drew is one those rare power/on-base machines that the Red Sox could really use in front of David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez.  On top of that, Drew is pretty much past his “injury prone” days.  He played all of last year and while he missed most of 2005, it was because of a fluky injury on pitch that hit him.  And then he had that monster 2004 for the Braves.

It’ll also help that Drew will be getting out of pitcher friend Dodger Stadium.  You should see Drew’s numbers increase across the board and I see him getting a ton of doubles in Fenway Park.
