Pitching Doesn’t Show Up as Red Sox Are Swept By Blue Jays

by @ 8:07 pm. Filed under 2007 Season

This was pretty ugly.  Just days after the Red Sox took care of the Yankees, the Jays roll into town and sweep the Red Sox in a two game series.  Neither team featured quality pitching and for that matter, the hitters didn’t get it going either.

Tim Wakefield was pretty mediocre in yesterday’s game.  He gave up four runs on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings of work.  Mike Timlin was also touched up and Dustin Pedroia went one for two with two RBIs.  Mike Lowell had two hits and a run.

Today’s game was even worse as the Red Sox got to Roy Halladay early but couldn’t keep it up.  While that was happening, the Jays jumped all over Julian Tavarez. He took the loss and gave up six runs on seven hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.  Julio Lugo was the hitting star and he finished with two hits and two runs.

The Jays are still in first place thanks to a Oakland sweep over the Orioles.  And next up is a two game set against the second place Orioles and there’s a solid pitching matchup tomorrow as Danny Cabrera takes on Curt Schilling.

See if another title will be won by purchasing Green Bay Packers Tickets for the season. One of the model franchises is in Foxboro as New England Patriots Tickets are tough to get. The NFC East is pretty competitive so get New York Giants Tickets to see the rivalries. With a new identity New York Jets Tickets are great for the new stadium.
