Ellsbury, Pedroia steal the show, Sox beat Angels 7-6

Jacoby Ellsbury went 3 for 5 with two homers and a bunt single and Dustin Pedroia had a career high four hits and three doubles as the Red Sox came back from a 5-1 deficit to defeat the Angels 7-6. Scheduled starter Josh Beckett was pulled from the start because of a stiff neck. Beckett had been fighting the same illness that has taken Jason Varitek, and now Manny Delcarmen out of the lineup for the past couple of days.  So the Red Sox, anticipating that there might be a problem, pulled David Pauley from his Pawtucket start on Monday, just in case. At about 2 p.m. Pauley was told that he wouldn’t be needed, then that was reversed around 4 p.m., when Pauley was told that he would be making the emergency start.  The team is not yet sure if Beckett will be skipped in his start or whether he might just be pushed back a few days. Sox Notes:Lowell took five rounds of BP before the team’s regular routine, with hitting coach Dave Magadan and trainer Paul Lessard looking on.  Coco Crisp tested his sore right hamstring before the game and reported it was ready to go. The team is targeting a possible return of Thursday for the center fielder.
