Daisuke Matsuzaka Pitches Red Sox to Win Over Royals

by @ 5:47 pm. Filed under 2007 Season

The Dice-K era has begun and it’s off to a good start.  Daisuke Matsuzaka gave up just one run on six hits and a walk with ten strikeouts in seven very solid innings.  J.C. Romero and Jon Papelbon pitched a scoreless inning each to close it out and just like that, the Red Sox have their first series win.

Julio Lugo, Manny Ramirez, Mike Lowell and Dustin Pedoria all had two hits a piece in the 4-1 win.  David Ortiz had a tough time and he struck out four times.

The Red Sox head to Texas next for a three game series.  Tim Wakefield makes his season debut in the series opener.
