Red Sox 1, Athletics 0 (2-0)
The Red Sox didn’t score until the bottom of the ninth inning and they only got one run but that’s all they needed as Carl Mays threw a one hit shutout. He walked two and he struck out an impressive eight batters in the contest.
Third baseman Stuff McInnis was the hitting star. He went two for four with a double and more importantly, he scored that lone ninth inning run.
